One of the wishes of a woman named Jackie Rakers is to experience how it is to be a fur mom. This explains why when an opportunity came to foster a puppy, Jackie did not think twice.
However, the dog that she was eyeing to foster needed to undergo eye surgery. The surgery went well, but the veterinarian who operated on the dog eventually decided to adopt the dog, making Jackie heartbroken.
But despite that, Jackie moved on because she knew that the dog would be in a happy place. A month later, though, the veterinarian returned the scared puppy. This allowed Jackie to foster the dog.
Before fostering the dog, Jackie asked the animal shelter where the dog came from about her background. Based on the records, the dog’s name is Heaven, and she was a stray in Kentucky before arriving at the shelter.
Heaven got transferred to Starfish Animal Rescue in Illinois, where Jackie first saw her. When Jackie volunteered to foster Heaven, the first meeting between the two did not go well. This is because Heaven seemed anxious and afraid of people.
The dog cowered in her crate and did not leave there even if Jackie was calling her. Despite the dog’s initial refusal, Jackie did not lose heart. She was adamant and willing to change the dog’s life for the better.
Fortunately, it did not take long before Heaven fully trusted the woman. After a month of fostering Heaven, Jackie decided to adopt the dog for good. It was not a difficult decision for Jackie because Heaven is a good fit for her.
Right now, Heaven is known for her beautiful smile. The dog even received the title of the Cutest Rescue Dog for 2021. Jackie hopes that her story with Heaven will inspire other people to consider adopting dogs.
