When Jami Lassell and her friend went to clean an abandoned house in Pennsylvania, they didn’t know that they would be saving a life that day.
Trapped
After clearing up most of the house, the two women went up to the attic to finish their job. Right before they went in, they could already smell a foul stench coming from inside. There was a strong odor of urine and feces. And when they got in, they saw a pit bull that was all skin and bones.
They had no idea how long the abandoned dog was trapped in there, but it looked like she hadn’t eaten for quite a while. It was a miracle that the poor pooch had managed to survive without access to food and water.
Amazingly, despite what she had gone through, she was not aggressive. The dog most likely saw them as her saviors and quickly warmed up to the girls. In fact, the severely underweight dog stayed by their side and refused to leave.
Jami’s heart was broken with what she saw. She couldn’t imagine why someone would leave the gentle pooch all alone. Aside from that, it seemed that the dog was abused. She had several old injuries that were very visible.
The kind lady took the dog with her and named her Remi. She then took her to a vet soon after.
Life goes on
After her medical check-up, they discovered that the dog had a broken back leg that had already healed on its own. But because the kneecap was not connected during the healing process, it caused permanent damage. Remi would always walk with a limp. She also had a broken nail and tooth that needed to be removed.
Remi has a long way to go before she fully recovers, and Jami has vowed to be by her side through it all. The kind lady has fallen in love with the adorable dog and adopted her. She knows that she can give the sweet pooch the life that she deserves. Life will be so much sweeter now that they have each other.
