Faith Easdale, who works with an animal advocacy group, recently posted a story of a dog she helped two years ago. A pregnant German shepherd was lying off the side of a road in California, and she was in bad shape. No human offered to help, but at least another dog was there by her side.

The German shepherd, named Marley, was in critical condition. It is presumed that Marley was hit by a car and was left lying in the road in Muscoy, California. Little did anyone know, but Marley was also pregnant. Another stray dog, named Murphy, stayed by Marley’s side.

The two dogs were stranded there for several hours as cars kept passing them. Not one car stopped to help Marley and Murphy. Finally, someone stopped and immediately contacted Dream Fetchers: Project Rescue.

Faith Easdale from Dream Fetchers said her team received a message that the German shepherd was injured and lying to the side of the road. Faith said by the time she and her staff arrived, Marley was in extreme distress and was having trouble breathing. Faith wasn’t sure Marley would live.

The other stray, Murphy, refused to leave after Faye and her team lifted Marley into their vehicle. Murphy jumped into the car with Marley and cuddled up next to her. Marley was rushed to the local hospital, where an X-ray revealed the German shepherd was pregnant.

After the vet fixed Marley’s injuries, Faith set out to find Murphy a good home. Murphy was concerned about his friend, but he was a healthy dog and wanted to run and play. Marley ended up having a litter of eleven healthy puppies. Even though the German shepherd had two legs in casts, Marley still tended to all her motherly duties.

Now, two years later, Marley is completely healed. Marley’s eleven puppies are all grown up, and the German shepherd is a healthy, playful dog again.
