With the community lockdown announcement due to the novel coronavirus, some activities got postponed. One of which is the supposed visit of dogs to a living facility in North Carolina. The dogs are from the Hope Animal Rescue, and they want to bring smiles to nursing home residents at the Spring Arbor of Cary.

Due to the community quarantine, however, the nursing home also decided to close its doors for visitors. This is to prevent human to human interaction that may cause the spread of the disease. The volunteers of the nursing home do not want to compromise the health of their residents. This is the reason why they canceled scheduled activities as a preventive measure.

The volunteers from the Hope Animal Rescue understood this protocol because it is for the safety of the patients. Despite the cancelation, the volunteers thought of continuing the activity, but it will be done virtually and through videos.

Instead of the dogs going to the nursing home, the volunteers would send videos of the dogs to the residents. This way, they will still be able to provide joy to nursing home residents. The volunteers then started capturing videos of their foster dogs and asked videos from other people, too. They were able to receive videos from Canine Chemistry, a dog training facility of the shelter.

As soon as they get enough videos to share, the volunteers sent it to the nursing home residents. According to the volunteers, it is their way of showing these nursing home residents that dogs love them.

The residents were able to receive over 100 videos from the Hope Animal Rescue and Canine Chemistry. According to the attending nurses, the residents enjoyed the content very much. This made the day of the residents more exciting and less tedious, the nurses said.
