A man named Tyler Austin Jerdo decided to lock himself and his five-month-old puppy named Asher in a bathroom on February 25, 2022. He then attached the dog’s front paws to the door with a power drill and doused him with paint. The authorities suspect that Jerrod was under the influence of a narcotic at that time.
Upon their rapid arrival to the location, the cops discovered a locked bathroom door containing numerous objects, including an air conditioner, a birdbath, and weightlifting equipment. And upon entering, they were horrified to discover the puppy hanging by his paws on the door.
The rescuers were able to remove one of the screws, but the other one was embedded so deeply in the dog’s paw that they had a hard time doing it without really hurting the animal further. They then quickly transported him to the Union County Animal Shelter, a South Carolina animal shelter.
As law enforcement attempted to apprehend Jerdo, the subject resisted arrest. He even headbutted a cop in an attempt to flee, but has since been apprehended. Three accusations were lodged against him, including animal cruelty and resisting arrest. Jerrod was denied bail as well.
At the animal shelter, the puppy was quickly given the right medical help. The director of the shelter, Holly Wise, was concerned that his limb was not mending properly. And at that point, Wise understood the dog required an expert. Fortunately, Rescue in SC, an animal rescue organization, assisted, and two volunteers drove the dog there.
Now, Asher is in the Charleston rescue center. Thanks to the group, the dog will shortly undergo surgery to ensure that it gets better.
Multiple individuals have shown interest in adopting the puppy. However, according to Wise, this is not yet a possibility. Before searching for a loving home, Asher must first complete all of his medical treatments. The two organizations will continue to provide updates on the dog’s journey and announce when he will be available for adoption.
