There’s nothing like the power of a mother’s love to help us get through our most trying times. And in most instances, we can always count on them to rescue us from any situation. And if only this puppy could talk, she would personally tell you the story behind how her dog mom and human owner saved her life.

The eight-month-old Golden retriever from Pennsylvania managed to get stuck beneath a boulder in Wyoming County last March. According to a report by WBRE/WYOU, Brandy went missing one Sunday evening and couldn’t be located for almost 20 hours. Nadia Delicati, her owner, frantically searched around the wooded area near their home but to no avail. It was Brandy’s mom, Bailey, who could track her scent to the hole where she got stuck.

Brandy was wedged so tight in the hole beneath the boulder that they found it difficult to take her out. She couldn’t even make a sound. They inferred that she probably chased an animal down there; that’s why she got stuck.

In an interview with the TV station, Timothy McCoy, a police officer from the Tunkhannock Township, said Brandy was there for a while, and she got cold and hungry during the ordeal.

Soon enough, five firefighters from the Lake Winola Volunteer Fire Department arrived at the scene, who chipped away portions of the rock to get Brandy out. Eventually, they decided to dig to make the hole big enough for their smallest firefighter, Lt. Eric Coolbaugh, to crawl down there.

He described how he managed to get her out using a pry bar for the rocks that had Brandy by the head. He put his weight into it and hoisted it enough to allow her head to pop out. He said the situation had been unbelievable, but it worked out well in the end.

Thanks to these heroes in uniform, Brandy was free! She immediately reunited with her human owner, whom she showered with kisses. But of course, Brandy didn’t forget about her rescuers.

Coolbaugh told WBRE/WYOU that they witness a lot of tragic events every day. But when they get animals out safely, and they shower them with love and kisses, it’s something that makes their day.

We’re sure Brandy won’t forget about her rescuers for a while! And we’re happy to report that aside from suffering a bit from the cold weather and feeling a little hungry, Brandy only sustained a swollen paw from the situation. We hope she’s doing okay now!
