Around early March last year, Brittney Novickis and her partner, Paul, were both working and decided to leave their four dogs to a sitter. Unfortunately, that same sitter carelessly left the door open sometime around 2 pm, allowing the couple’s husky, Ashley, to escape from their Savannah, Georgia home.

It wasn’t until Paul came home at 7 pm that he realized what had happened. As soon as he learned that Ashley was missing, he immediately reached out to Brittney, and they began combing their neighborhood for the five-year-old pup. They were up until 2 am looking for her, but they found no signs or leads anywhere.

Believing that social media would help, Brittney turned to Facebook and posted the husky’s photos on various lost and found pages. The couple’s friends also helped with the search and shared her post all over the internet. Despite their efforts, the fur parents received no reports about Ashley for days.

That was until two weeks later when a woman named Hailey Lingo reached out to Brittney. She said that she was browsing the Facebook page of Halifax Humane Society, an animal shelter in Daytona Beach, Florida, where she saw a new post about a stray husky.

After she got off the shelter’s page, she coincidentally came across a post about the missing Ashley. Hailey was surprised by the resemblance between the pups and thought they might be one and the same. So she immediately called Brittney to tell her what she found.

Although somewhat doubtful to hear the news, the fur mom still decided to check. She called the shelter right away and told them about the runaway pup. To verify if the dog was indeed the same dog, the shelter staff came to her kennel and called her several names until she said the word “Ashley.”

The husky immediately perked up at the sound of her name and began jumping up and down. When Brittney learned this, she and Paul quickly gathered the dog’s vet records and drove down to Florida. It was quite safe to say that there were no dry eyes during their reunion that day. Watch Ashley’s reaction to seeing her fur mom again here.
