While the United Kingdom is known for experiencing regular rainfall, it also experiences a warm season. And when the temperature reaches intolerable levels, a heatwave happens.

Despite this, many owners continue to believe that leaving a dog in a car is OK. But it is really not. In fact, this act is unacceptable, no matter what the weather is.

This is what happened to a dog named Bertie. Bertie, a Cockapoo, was left inside a heated automobile. Thankfully, firefighters arrived swiftly to save the dog.

Bertie was inside a vehicle that was parked under bright sunshine. At that time, temperatures reached 30 degrees Celsius. During hot seasons or heatwaves, the interior temperature of a vehicle can reach up to 54°C in just one hour, which can be lethal.

Even with the windows open, pets inside hot vehicles might die within 20 minutes. In the case of Bertie, the automobile windows were not even cracked even just a little bit so you can imagine how hot it must be inside.

To save the dog, an emergency crew was dispatched to the parking lot. This happened after a member of the supermarket’s staff was unable to locate the owner, who was reportedly shopping inside the store.

According to the firefighters, Bertie was in trouble because of the severe heat. To save him, they had to shatter one of the car’s windows.

In a Facebook post, the Saffron Walden Fire Station reminded everyone to constantly consider their pet’s well-being and safety, particularly during the summer months. They were surprised that the message was not reaching everyone after a number of untoward incidents.

Our dogs always have been there for us and we must always ensure that they are always safe and comfortable. Leaving them inside a car parked under the hot sun is definitely not one of those things that you should do.
