Hope For Paws, a nonprofit institution in LA, received a request to rescue a dog living by the freeway. The kind security guards of a nearby property looked over the dog for several months and mentioned that the animal is elderly and deaf.

Quickly, rescue volunteers Eldad Hagar and JoAnn Wiltz responded. The rescue partners met with the property guards, who welcomed them inside. They searched for the pup on foot and Eldad spotted it among the scattered piles of wood in the area.

Both rescuers noticed that the dog stayed asleep even when they were close enough, so they devised a plan. Eldad sneaked behind the dog while JoAnn watched should the pup get up. Expertly, the male rescuer looped the pooch in with the gentle snare.

Surprised, the dog started to walk away. JoAnn assured it that everything was fine and gave it food. For the safety of both the rescuers and the animal, she also looped in another gentle snare to secure the pooch better.

The rescuers spent a few minutes getting the dog comfortable. They decided to name him Mr. Rogers in honor of World Kindness Day 2021. After Mr. Rogers fully trusted them, Eldad and JoAnn carefully loaded him into their vehicle.

Mr. Rogers underwent a complete medical check-up once they arrived at the animal clinic. The vets found out that he had an ear infection that affected his hearing. They, however, expected him to recover completely and get his hearing back.

With the help of the charitable group Hollywood Huskies, Mr. Rogers found a loving foster home, when he made a complete recovery. He recovered some of his youth along with his hearing, actively playing with his foster family and excitedly going on walks. The senior dog now looks forward to spending the rest of his days with his forever family.
