Dog siblings Skyla and Aurora lived with their previous owners for no less than 2 years. During that time, they ended up at the city pound more than a few times. But eventually, their owners refused to pay any more fees to get them out of the shelter and completely abandoned them instead.

As it turned out, getting dumped turned was the best thing that happened to the dogs. A local rescue organization placed for adoption and they ended up in better situations. Aurora left to be with her new family and Skyla joined her new mom, Theresa, in her beautiful home.

Theresa was in a very rough patch when she decided to adopt Skyla. She wanted to feel better and she thought that getting a dog would do the trick. Despite her mom’s disapproval, she went ahead and brought home Skyla.

As soon as her new dog came home, Theresa started to take it out for walks. No matter how much she wanted to spend the day in bed, she always got up to play with it and feed it. Eventually, she felt a sense of purpose because she knew there was at least one creature that needed her the most.

Over the years, Skyla’s bond with her mom became deeper. The dog didn’t simply encourage her mom to live life again but also inspired Theresa to write a book about happiness. Just by being herself, Skyla filled the void in her mom’s heart.

A lot of people don’t like Skyla because she’s a Pitbull. But in her own little ways, she proves that her breed has nothing to do with her character. In fact, she convinced Theresa’s mom to get her own rescue dog, a Pitbull.

Skyla faced tremendous challenges in life, too. But because she had her mom by her side all the time, none of her worries ever mattered. She survived cancer and hopefully, she will do the same now that she’s fighting kidney disease.

Now at 15 years old, Skyla is almost at the end of her life. But until the time she crosses the rainbow bridge, she will continue to bring her mom endless joy, hope, and laughter.
