Dogs are terrified of fireworks. It has probably got to do with the loud noises. Dogs can get so scared of the loud popping noises that they often end up running away – not because they want to but because they have to.

Dora is one such dog. She got separated from her family by jumping over her family’s backyard fence during their 4th of July celebration. The dog got scared of the fireworks and decided to run away.

Her family was devastated. But just like any family who love their dogs very much, searched for their beloved Dora to no avail. Just when all hope is lost, the troubled family got a call from their local shelter. The family was informed a dog was found and after checking her for a microchip, found that she has a family.

I could only imagine the happiness both Dora, and her owners felt during the reunion. I can’t help but shed a few tears just watching the footage below.

Microchipping your pets can significantly help in getting them home safe. Unlike a dog tag or a collar, a microchip is forever embedded to your dog. Over 10 million dogs are reported lost each year in the United States alone. Although there are many other reasons why pets are not reunited with their owners, the inability to identify and contact the owner is often on top of the list.

Some dog owners think that they are doing all they can to keep their pets safe. But there are just so many situations and circumstances beyond our control that may result in a dog getting lost or stolen. with the advent of microchips, you are forever linked with your beloved furry friend forever.

Thanks to modern technology, Dora is now safe and is now back to her family.
