While on duty, a police officer of the Tempe Police Department noticed a dog in an industrial area. The poor pup was scared and sad. And by how she looked, it was pretty easy to tell that she’s been on the streets for quite some time already.

For several times, the cop witnessed how the dog was almost hit by oncoming traffic. He tried to catch her but she was so afraid to let him come close. Knowing that she was in need of urgent help, the police officer reached out to Sky Sanctuary Rescue for help.

The rescue group did not hesitate to help. But they needed a safe place where the dog could stay once they got her. So before heading to the rescue site, they contacted Monica Angel, a good friend of theirs and founder of Angels For Paws Animal Rescue. They explained the situation and she instantly agreed to take her at the moment they were able to bring her to safety.

At 4 a.m, the volunteers began to work. They set up a trap and watched from a distance. About 2 ½ hours later, a truck pulled up in front of the gate and the driver hopped out. When he saw the trap, he was confused.

One of the rescuers approached the man and explained the situation. He was happy to learn that someone finally came to help Indy. He told them he’d been feeding her for the last 6 months but he was never able to touch her.

As the rescuer and the truck driver spoke, Indy heard the familiar voice and showed up. They moved away to avoid spooking her and she walked right into the trap. Finally, she was safe.

Indy continued to her foster home, where she met Kingston, another rescue dog that lived in the mountains for 4 years. With his help, she thrived in her new environment. They played for hours each day and became best of friends.

Once she was ready, Indy left to be with her new family. Her new mom and dad adored her so much because of her resemblance with her new dog sibling. She’s finally home.
